Dangerous Toys Design, LLC
Dangerous Toys Design is composed of a small number of creative toy and story nuts with expertise in areas including design, business, and manufacturing. My position in the group, besides being a co-owner, is that of the design lead, although creative input comes from all of us to create what we think is an awesome product. This work showcases some of the massive amount of work the team and I at Dangerous Toys have put into TurboDrome: Overkill, our first line of toys.
Ideation and Design Package
The first grouping of images (the gallery of thumbnails below in the 6-column grid) is mainly of VERY early sketches. They aren't great as I was just learning to sketch characters, but you get a feel for just a fraction of the early ideas we were throwing around. The first images in this grouping are from a character class I was taking at the time, and they influenced the figures quite a bit. As the images near the final designs, you can see some are quite a bit less crazy. Those are the ones that became our core figures, which will then be modified into all kinds of wild variations. This has to do with our story, but also has a large part to do with manufacturing and maximizing our tooling.
3D
These images are from Mana Studio's figure sculpts as well as Kevin Ferguson's weapon sculpts. The weapon prints and molds are of our own making.
Next StepsThe images below are rough and quick studies we did together during a meeting to decide what to color the weapons for the Kickstarter guns (each character will have several weapons, but we wanted to make three of the main ones for the Kickstarter launch to show with the three prototype figures).
